The Head coach of the Gabon national team, Thierry Mouyouma, has confirmed his side’s readiness to face the Super Eagles in the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff.
Speaking in a recent interview, he described the match as a crucial test ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Super Eagles qualified for the play-off after thrashing Benin Republic 4–0 and will meet Gabon, Cameroon, and DR Congo in the match set to be held in Morocco from November 13 to 16.
Mouyouma expressed disappointment at not qualifying despite getting 25 points, which he said is hard to take. We are ready.
Gabon, despite a strong campaign in the qualifiers, finished as one of the best runners-up, leading to the playoff against the Super Eagles.

Mouyouma passionately argued that the veteran striker should have received the African Player of the Year award during a period when his statistics were undeniable.
“For fifteen years, no African striker has shown such consistency. Scoring four goals in a qualifying match is exceptional,” the coach noted, referring to a recent performance.
He stressed the inspirational impact of the 36-year-old forward, adding that he proved that age is just a number.
He also praised Aubameyang’s mentality and desire, noting that his professionalism benefits everyone, players and staff alike.
Aubameyang, a long-serving captain, maintains exemplary motivation for the team, according to Mouyouma.
