The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has reportedly reached a unanimous decision to cancel the planned international friendly matches against Venezuela and Colombia, which were set to take place in the USA this November.
A reliable source from the Sunday Dankaro House disclosed that during a recent closed-door meeting, the country’s football governing body decided to call off the two friendlies following the Super Eagles’ qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs in Morocco next month.
According to the NFF, this decision aims to allow the players to concentrate on their performance, considering that the dates for the two friendlies coincide with the playoff schedule.
Moreover, a provision in the contract for these friendlies specifies that the matches will be cancelled if the Super Eagles qualify for the World Cup Playoffs.

”The friendlies have been cancelled due to a scheduling conflict with the World Cup playoffs, which are set to begin in Morocco in November,” stated a senior NFF official who wished to remain anonymous.
”Additionally, the contract for the friendlies includes a clause permitting cancellation if the Super Eagles qualify for the 2026 World Cup,” he informed the Guardian.
Nigeria is scheduled to compete against Venezuela on November 14 and Colombia on November 18. The Super Eagles will face Gabon in the World Cup Playoffs semifinal on November 13 in Morocco, with the final match planned for November 16.
