Portable Detained at Port Harcourt Airport, Alleges “Death Prank”

A new controversy involving the Nigerian music star, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has set social media ablaze. The music crooner found himself at the heart of a dramatic public incident this past Sunday, which unfolded at the bustling Port Harcourt International Airport.

The episode was captured in a viral video that has been widely circulated across various social media platforms. The footage showed Portable, in a highly agitated state as he attempted to confront an unidentified man. A crowd quickly gathered, before airport security personnel intervened to restrain the visibly upset artist.

In the clip, Portable was seen shouting and gesticulating angrily while being dragged by security operatives.

In response to the circulating video, Portable took to his Instagram account on Monday to offer his side of the story. In a video statement, the singer claimed that the confrontation was not what it seemed, alleging that he was the target of a dangerous stunt orchestrated by pranksters.

“Those people came to prank me. They were death pranksters. It almost turned to cultist level. Ten yellow no fit stand one blue,” he said in a mix of English and Yoruba, using local slang to suggest the pranksters were outmatched.

Elaborating further, Portable accused both the pranksters and a segment of online bloggers of a coordinated effort to tarnish his public image with misinformation. He issued a direct plea to the authorities, calling for a crackdown on such activities.

“Make Government stop all those prankers and some fake bloggers. Make them stop all this fake news post just because of small fame. Why una dey spoil person wey get glory name with una platforms,” he posted, expressing his frustration that his hard-earned reputation was being threatened for the sake of “small fame” on digital platforms.
