NDDC at 25: NDDC Marks 25 Years with Thanksgiving Service

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has rounded off activities marking its 25th anniversary with a thanksgiving service on Saturday, September 27 at the NDDC Event Centre in Port Harcourt, expressing gratitude for a quarter century of service to the Niger Delta region.

The Managing Director of the Commission, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, said the anniversary, which was celebrated across the region, ended successfully without any negative incidents. He stressed that it was important to pause and give thanks to God for the progress recorded since the agency’s creation.

In his remarks, Dr. Ogbuku noted that the Commission had engaged in a week-long spiritual programme leading up to the thanksgiving. He explained that fasting, prayers, and supplications were observed by management and staff to seek divine direction for the NDDC’s future.

“Every institution and journey comes with its own challenges,” Ogbuku said. “But we believe that with prayers and gratitude, God will continue to guide this Commission and help us overcome obstacles.”

He urged staff to remain committed to integrity, warning against actions that could draw the Commission away from divine favor.

The thanksgiving service drew top officials, including the Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Alabo Boma Iyaye, and the Executive Director of Corporate Services, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde. Directors and staff from across departments also attended.

Mr. Patrick Ekade, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, praised God for the successes the Commission had achieved in its 25 years, describing the thanksgiving as timely and necessary.

Adding a spiritual note, Pastor Udoma Sabbath of the NDDC Fellowship said prayers of staff had been answered with the appointment of a board and chief executive committed to making a difference in the region.

Dr. Ogbuku assured that the present board would remain focused on its development mandate, working closely with staff and stakeholders to drive sustainable growth in the Niger Delta.
