‎Super Eagles to Play Colombia Friendlies in Preparation For AFCON

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are set to face Colombia in an international friendly on Tuesday, November 18, at Citi Field, Queens, New York, as part of their preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

‎The venue announced the match on Thursday through social media, stating that ticket sales will commence on Monday, September 30, 2025.

‎Colombia, currently ranked 14th in the FIFA world rankings and already qualified for the 2026 World Cup, will utilize this match as part of their two-game tour in the United States.

‎Néstor Lorenzo’s squad will first compete against New Zealand in Fort Lauderdale on November 15, before traveling north to New York to take on Nigeria. For the Super Eagles, this match against Colombia is the second of two friendlies scheduled for November.

‎They will kick off against Venezuela in Houston on November 14, followed by the match against the South Americans four days later. Both fixtures are crucial preparations ahead of AFCON 2025 in Morocco, where Nigeria will begin their campaign against Tanzania on December 23 in Fez.

‎The match in Queens will be only the third encounter between Nigeria and Colombia. Their last meeting ended in a 1-1 draw in Milton Keynes in 2010, with Lukman Haruna equalizing after Carlos Valdés had scored first. Their inaugural match took place in 1994.

‎Nigeria approaches these fixtures with a competitive spirit, as World Cup qualifying remains on the horizon. The three-time African champions currently sit third in Group C following a narrow victory over Rwanda and a spirited draw with South Africa in September.

‎Upcoming matches against Lesotho and Benin in October will be crucial before the focus shifts to the November friendlies. Conversely, Colombia arrives with confidence, having secured its World Cup qualification with games to spare.
