Rivers People Firmly Stand With Fubara – Ex Okrika LG Chair

Former National President of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Igwe Achese, has stated that the people of Rivers State will stand in unwavering support of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, regardless of his political decisions.

Speaking in a recent interview, the former Chairman of Okrika Local Government Area of the state, declared that the populace would follow Fubara “wherever he goes,” whether he remains with his current party or moves to another, including the APC.

Achese praised Fubara for his “uncommon sacrifice” in ensuring peace and stability during the six-month state of emergency.

He noted that the governor’s decision not to challenge the emergency rule was a deliberate and selfless act aimed at preventing bloodshed and economic disruption in the state.

According to Achese, Fubara’s priority was peace, a move he says is so dear to him and has been widely appreciated.

Describing Fubara as a “unifying figure” and an “icon of peace”, Achese emphasised that the governor’s actions have ensured that investors and residents could continue their businesses without fear of molestation or harassment.

He highlighted that Fubara’s sacrifices were essential to avoid what he called a “needless sacrifice” of lives and economic progress.

Achese also commended President Bola Tinubu for his efforts in maintaining calm in the state, noting that the president’s intervention helped to preserve peace in a state crucial to Nigeria’s economy.

The former NUPENG leader celebrated Fubara’s steadfast loyalty and his commitment to putting peace above personal power.
