UNICEF Pledges Support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has committed to a continued partnership with the Nigerian government to advance key programmes of President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”

The pledge was made during a courtesy visit by a UNICEF delegation led by Country Representative Wafaa Abdelatef to Vice President Kashim Shettima in Abuja.

Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima’s spokesperson in a statement on Thursday said his principal praised the collaboration, stating that Tinubu has “redefined the concept of modern leadership in Nigeria.”

He emphasised the administration’s focus on legacy projects in health, nutrition, and human capital development, citing initiatives such as the Nutrition 774 Initiative and the Nutrition Intervention Fund.

Shettima highlighted the government’s determination to invest in youth and the overall transformation of the education sector, calling UNICEF a valuable partner in achieving these goals.

He also noted that economic reforms are leading to a decline in inflation, with further stabilization expected by the end of the year.

Abdelatef acknowledged Shettima’s dedication to humanitarian causes, describing him as a “global citizen.”

She confirmed UNICEF’s alignment with the administration’s priorities, particularly its programs on nutrition, human capital development, and the education of the girl child. She commended the government’s initiatives, noting that its “vision is clear and the mission is realisable.”
