NSW Project on Track for 2026 Launch – Customs Boss

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi had revealed that the National Single Window (NSW) project, a key initiative of the Bola Tinubu administration, is making significant progress toward its planned operational launch in early 2026.

In a statement on Thursday, Adeniyi said the project, designed to streamline trade processes and enhance economic efficiency, has received renewed commitment from key government agencies.

He said this at the high-level meetings at the Customs Headquarters in Abuja, including sessions in August and a follow-up in September, which he noted has focused on strengthening inter-agency collaboration.

Attendees included Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Executive Chairman, Zacch Adedeji; and NSW Director, Tola Fakolade.

Adeniyi reaffirmed Customs’ full commitment, stating that the service is not only meeting its technical obligations but also driving the project’s broader vision of creating a seamless trade ecosystem. “We are going to deliver on this mandate,” he assured.

He said when fully implemented, NSW is expected to reduce cargo clearance times, lower trade costs, curb revenue leakages, and improve Nigeria’s standing in global trade.

The renewed momentum and strong partnerships among the agencies suggest the project is well on its way to delivering lasting economic benefits.

During the latest meeting, Adedeji expressed satisfaction with the pace of work, noting that the progress demonstrates a strong collective will to fulfill the President’s mandate.

“This has become the official headquarters of the implementation,” he stated, commending the Nigeria Customs Service for hosting the core of the project.

In his update, Fakolade announced that stakeholder engagement sessions are scheduled to take place across the country in October 2025.

He also confirmed that bi-weekly technical meetings will continue to address operational issues and streamline the integration process.

Fakolade mentioned that funds have been approved to support various government agencies with the necessary IT infrastructure for the project.
