Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway Will Boost Commerce Nationwide — Goronyo

Minister of State for Works, Muhammad Bello Goronyo, has recently lauded President Bola Tinubu’s steadfast commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s infrastructure despite current economic challenges.

During a joint inspection tour with Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, in Kebbi and Sokoto States, Goronyo pointed to the construction of the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway as a prime example of the administration’s focus on national development.

He said the new superhighway, which traverses multiple states including Sokoto, Kebbi, and Niger, is expected to significantly stimulate commerce along its route. The project is designed to connect key northern states to the coastal city of Badagry in Lagos.

Goronyo emphasised that the road’s impact extends beyond its immediate corridor, benefiting the entire nation by linking diverse regions.

“This project’s significance is far-reaching,” Goronyo stated, highlighting its connection to the Illela International Market, where the construction begins.

He described the road as a “game changer” that will unlock numerous business opportunities across a 1,000-kilometer stretch, creating vital links between Nigeria and its neighbors like Niger and Mali.

The minister urged communities benefiting from the project to recognize the federal government’s efforts.

“I appeal to the communities to appreciate the dedication the President has shown to this region,” he said, suggesting that the project’s completion would serve as a lasting testament to the administration’s commitment, negating the need for future political campaigns in the area.

Goronyo also praised Minister Umahi for his dedication to advancing the President’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” through infrastructure.
