Eid Maulud: Muslims Urged to Emulate Teachings of Prophet Muhammad

As Muslims across the country observe Eid-el-Maulud, which is the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad, Muslims in the country have been urged to purify themselves, read the Quran and do charitable deeds in honor of the birth of Prophet Mohammed.

The Eid el Maulud celebration which is a yearly festival marking the birth and memories of Prophet Muhammad who was born on 12th day of ubbi” al awwal 570AD

Muslims from all over the world come together to sing, read the holy Quran and make salutations to Prophet Muhammad.

A Muslim Mustaqeem Idris said Prophet Muhammad did not celebrate his birthday but told his companions to fast every monday.

He called on Muslim faithful  in the country to follow the path of the prophet and purify themselves as one day was not enough to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

For Mohammed Awalu and Ummi Suleiman, the Mawlid Mubarak is a time to express love for the prophet and everyone as well as recite the holy quoran .

Also speaking, Aisha Murtala called on Nigerians to join in the observance of the Eid Mawlid which is to honor the birth of the prophet Mohammed.

Eid El Maulud provides an opportunity for Muslims to gather in mosques for special prayers and sermons, where the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad are recounted.

Additionally, in some parts of the country, the day is marked with colourful procession, feasting, decorations and charity to the less privileged.
