Dangote Group

The Dangote Group has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Ruth Otabor, who sustained critical injuries in a recent accident involving one of the company’s trucks in Auchi, Edo State.

Otabor, who is the sister of reality television star Phyna, had been undergoing treatment following the tragic incident. According to a statement released by the Dangote Group via its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, efforts were underway to transfer her abroad for further medical care before her passing.

The company disclosed that arrangements had been made to fly Ruth to India for advanced treatment, pending approval from her medical team. However, she succumbed to her injuries before the trip could take place.

“We are profoundly saddened by the loss of Ruth Otabor, who was involved in the unfortunate accident with one of our trucks in Auchi,” the statement read. “Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and loved ones during this painful time.”

Dangote Group emphasised that since the incident, both the company and its insurance partners had been actively involved in supporting Ruth and her family.

Reaffirming its commitment to corporate responsibility, the Dangote Group noted that safety, accountability, and compassion remain integral to its operations. The company also pledged to continue improving safety measures and providing support during times of crisis.

“May her soul rest in peace,” the statement concluded.
