“It’s An Opportunity To Grow As Player, Person” – Ajibade

Rasheedat Ajibade

Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has expressed her excitement following her move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Féminines.

In her first interview with PSG’s media team on Tuesday, August 26, the Super Falcons captain said she “couldn’t wait to come” as soon as she learned of the club’s interest, viewing the move as a significant new challenge.

Ajibade believed that joining the “prestigious club” would provide a perfect environment for her to develop both as a player and as a person.

She described the French championship as a physical and tactical league that she looks forward to competing in.

She also noted her anticipation for the new league format, which she believes will increase the level of competition and allow more teams to participate.

The move reunites her with Super Falcons teammate Jennifer Echegini.

Ajibade believes Echegini will play a crucial role in her quick integration into the team, describing her as a “sister” and a unique, exceptional person.

She stated that having a fellow countryman on the team will help her integrate with the other players more quickly.

Ajibade has long admired PSG, following both the men’s and women’s teams. She views the club as a place where young players can grow and develop, citing its history, values, and objectives as key factors in her decision.

For Nigerian fans, the connection to PSG is deeply rooted in the legacy of former player Jay-Jay Okocha.

Ajibade acknowledged that PSG is one of the most followed clubs in Nigeria due to the success of its men’s team and the presence of Okocha, whom she called an “icon and a legend.”

She emphasised that Okocha’s legacy has created a strong connection between the club and Nigerian players, many of whom dream of playing for PSG one day.
