Former Big Brother Naija star and actor Pere Egbi has revealed the heartbreaking loss of a close friend who died by suicide, allegedly triggered by relentless online bullying.

The reality TV alum shared the news via his X handle on Monday, writing:

“I lost a friend today due to online bullying. Committed suicide. Smh. RIP champ. It is well.”

While Pere did not disclose whether the incident occurred in Nigeria or the United States, where he is based currently, the revelation has sparked widespread grief and renewed calls for accountability in digital spaces.

The tragedy comes amid Pere’s recent controversial remarks about the Nigerian film industry. He had stated that South Africa’s movie industry surpasses Nollywood in storytelling, filmmaking quality, and professional ethics, urging Nigerian creatives to embrace reform and growth.
