President Bola Tinubu has concluded the Japanese leg of his two-nation diplomatic tour and is en route to Brazil for an official state visit.
Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy disclosed this in a statement posted on his social media pages on Friday.
According to Onanuga’s presidency, Tinubu departed Yokohama late Thursday night for the long-haul flight.
He added that the President is scheduled to make a stopover in Los Angeles, California, before arriving in Brasilia on August 24.
Tinubu’s visit to Brazil is at the invitation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and the South American nation.
A key component of the visit is the signing of a Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA), which aims to establish direct flights between the two countries to boost trade and cultural exchange.

Tinubu’s trip began on August 15 when he left Abuja. After a stopover in Dubai, his delegation arrived in Yokohama, Japan, on August 18.
While in Japan, Tinubu participated in the Ninth Tokyo International Conference for African Development (TICAD9), which took place from August 20-22.
He attended the opening ceremony and plenary sessions and held several bilateral meetings with Japanese government officials and business leaders to attract investment in Nigeria’s economy.
The President concluded his engagements in Japan with an interactive session with Nigerians living in the diaspora.
This two-part tour to Japan and Brazil is the latest in a series of international trips by the President aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s diplomatic and economic ties.
