Nigeria’s star chef, Hilda Baci, is ready to set the stage for another historic food adventure — this time with jollof rice at the heart of it.
The culinary sensation announced on Instagram that she will attempt to cook the largest pot of jollof rice in the world, using a giant pot measuring six meters wide and six meters tall. The spectacular event is scheduled for September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Baci revealed that the project has been in development for two years and described it as more than a cooking challenge. According to her, the day will serve as a cultural festival, celebrating Nigerian food, music, and togetherness.
“In 2023, the Hilda Baci cookathon took the world by storm. This year, it is Jollof, the heartbeat of West Africa,” she wrote.

“It is more than cooking; it is a celebration of our food, our culture, our music, and us.”
The Guinness World Record holder added that the feat is being made possible in partnership with food brand Gino, a name familiar to Nigerian kitchens. “Two years ago, I imagined the largest pot of Nigerian Jollof rice the world had ever seen. Today, my dream is becoming a reality,” she said.
Hilda Baci rose to global fame in May 2023 when she set a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual. Though the record was later broken, she is once again aiming to make history — this time with Nigeria’s favorite dish.
