Kwara United Coach Admits Challenges Ahead of New Season

With the new Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season just 36 hours away, Kwara United head coach Tunde Sanni has expressed both hope and concern about his team’s readiness.

According to reports, Sanni acknowledged that while the team is preparing, they are “still behind” where he wants them to be.

The “Harmony Boys” recently concluded a mixed pre-season tournament in Ogun State.

According to Sanni, the focus of these matches was not on winning trophies but on identifying areas for improvement before the real competition begins.

The team, which ended the last season on a high note by winning the President’s Federation Cup, its first major silverware, faces a packed schedule across three competitions.

A key challenge for the team has been the integration of recruits.

Sanni explained that new players are struggling to adapt to the team’s tempo and unique playing style.

However, he remains optimistic that they will overcome these hurdles with time.

The NPFL season kicks off on August 22, and the Ilorin-based side will be tested immediately.

In addition to their league commitments, Kwara United has been drawn to face Ghana’s Asante Kotoko in the preliminary stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Sanni is clear on the team’s objectives for the new campaign: to be competitive on all fronts.

He emphasised the importance of having a strong starting eleven as well as players on the bench who can make a difference.

This season presents both promise and pressure for Kwara United, a club that has historically lingered in the mid-table.

With the NPFL becoming more competitive, Sanni knows his squad must develop quickly to make an impression.
