JAMB Sets October 31 As Deadline for 2025 University Admissions

JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed October 31, 2025, as the deadline for public universities to complete their 2025 admission processes.

The examination body disclosed this in its weekly bulletin released on Monday, August 18, noting that the timeline was part of resolutions reached at the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions chaired by the Minister of Education.

According to the schedule, private universities are expected to conclude admissions by November 30, 2025, while all other tertiary institutions—both public and private—must finish their admission exercises by December 31, 2025.

JAMB explained that the new directive is intended to bring stability to the nation’s academic calendar and ensure fair access to admission slots across higher institutions.

“Public universities are to complete admissions by October 31, 2025. Private universities must conclude by November 30, while all other institutions, public and private, should finalise admissions by December 31, 2025,” the bulletin stated.

The board further advised schools to complete and archive admissions promptly, even if their academic session will not commence immediately. It stressed that early completion would help prevent delays and ensure a seamless transition for candidates.

In addition, JAMB urged institutions conducting post-UTME screenings to accelerate the process to avoid breaching the approved admission timeline.

The board reiterated its commitment to transparency, equity, and efficiency in the admission process, while calling on universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education to strictly adhere to the deadlines in the interest of students and the wider education sector.
