Drogba Petition Atlanta Amid Ademola Lookman in Transfer Saga

‎In an interesting situation, former Chelsea player Didier Drogba has reportedly come to Italy to hand over a petition to Atalanta, asking for Ademola Lookman, the African Player of the Year, to be allowed to transfer as he wants.

‎According to a report, Drogba is handing over a 50-page petition that has been approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

‎The petition asks for a “fair and transparent” transfer process. It stresses the importance of “a fair and transparent transfer process” for Lookman, who is currently the African Player of the Year.

‎“This action shows the importance of accountability and fairness in football transfers, especially for African players,” the report says.

‎This follows the Nigerian national team’s social media account supporting Ademola Lookman in his attempts to leave Atalanta for Inter.

‎Lookman is thought to be in Portugal right now, having spent some time in London, and he left Atalanta’s training session over a week ago.

‎He is unhappy with Atalanta for blocking his move to Inter, saying the €45 million offer, including extra money, was enough for a transfer.

‎Atalanta has said they had promised to sell him last summer if a good offer came in, but only to a club outside Italy, to prevent strengthening their main rivals.

‎According to BuchiLaba, Inter Milan is expected to make another offer that meets Atalanta’s requirements for Lookman in the coming days, to complete the deal before the end of August.

‎Lookman has a contract with Atalanta that runs until the summer of 2027, and Atalanta is asking for a fee of around €55 million.
