Fire Engulfs Properties Worth Billions at Azikiwe Street, Diobu

A fire broke out around 2:30 am at No. 57 and part of No. 55 Azikiwe Street, Mile Two Diobu, Port Harcourt, engulfing properties worth billions.

As of 6:36 am, the fire was still ongoing despite the presence of the fire service, which had deployed water using up to five vehicles.

At No. 57 Azikiwe Street, the building housed eight shops which contained tailoring materials, five weaving machines, cash, an ice block machine factory, a food stock store, and a refrigerator shop. Seven rooms were affected. No. 55 Azikiwe Street is a warehouse for assorted drinks.

This incident follows previous fires in the area, including a brothel fire last year and the burning of the popular Ojoto market two years ago.
