Crystal Palace Interested Super Eagles Midfielder Frank Onyeka

Onyeka

According to reports, Crystal Palace has reached out to Brentford about a possible deal to acquire Nigerian midfielder Frank Onyeka.

‎As reported, the Eagles have pinpointed the 27-year-old as one of their main targets for the summer transfer window and are considering a bid of €12m (£10.3m) for his services.

‎While it is still uncertain whether Brentford would accept such an offer, they are expected to entertain proposals for a player who is under contract until the summer of 2027.

‎Onyeka has made a strong impression during his loan period in Germany, starting 25 out of his 26 Bundesliga appearances this season and establishing himself as a crucial component in Augsburg’s defensive lineup. His tackling statistics rank him among the top 10 for tackles won in the German top division for the 2024/25 season.

‎At Selhurst Park, Onyeka would encounter competition from Cheick Doucoure, Jefferson Lerma, Will Hughes, and Adam Wharton, although the latter is still rumoured to be on the verge of leaving the club.

‎The Nigerian international’s situation has garnered interest from various parties this summer. Manchester United has previously explored the option of signing him as a more affordable squad addition, according to football journalist Ben Jacobs, who noted that Onyeka had been mentioned internally at Old Trafford.

‎”Brentford’s Frank Onyeka has been considered as a more economical squad option; however, with interest from Valencia and Burnley, and with Christian Norgaard departing, it’s not viewed as very likely,” Jacobs informed The United Stand.
