TikTok Star Peller Slams ₦36M Tax Bill from Lagos Govt

Peller

Popular TikTok personality Peller has voiced frustration over what he described as an outrageous ₦36 million tax bill allegedly issued by the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS).

During a recent livestream featuring singer Peruzzi, Peller claimed the government was targeting him unfairly due to his online visibility and flaunting of assets.

“Taskforce said I should pay ₦36 million for tax. I don’t have anything. I just came into the limelight last year,” he lamented.

Peruzzi responded by urging him to settle the bill to avoid legal trouble:

“Why haven’t you paid your taxes? Do you know you’re supposed to pay tax as a Nigerian? Do you know how much I pay as tax? I won’t mention it here but it’s more than the tax bill they gave you.”

While Peruzzi advised him to plead for more time, Peller insisted that his income comes from social media, not Nigeria, and argued that the government has never supported him during his TikTok live sessions.

He also alleged that the tax demand was triggered by his public display of wealth and income figures.

“They are taxing me because I flaunted my assets and revealed my TikTok income,” he said.

The exchange has sparked debate online, with many Nigerians questioning the transparency of celebrity tax assessments and the government’s approach to digital content creators.
