Jim Iyke Calls Healthcare a “Trillion-Dollar Business”

Veteran Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has stirred controversy with his recent remarks about the medical profession, claiming that doctors are trained not to heal but to keep patients dependent on treatment for profit.

Speaking in an interview on The Echoo Room hosted by reality TV star Teddy A, Iyke alleged that the healthcare industry is driven by financial motives rather than genuine healing.

“Medical doctors are basically trained all through their career not to heal,” he said.
“It’s big pharma business. If they tell you what to take and they heal you, you’re not a customer anymore and they won’t make money. That’s a trillion-dollar industry.”

He also criticized the widespread use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and orthodox medicines, suggesting that the system is built on misinformation and commercial interests.

“There’s a GMO everywhere. The orthodox medicines; the lies. If I say it anywhere, it upsets them [medical practitioners],” he added.

Jim Iyke’s comments have sparked heated reactions online, with some praising his boldness and others accusing him of spreading conspiracy theories. Health professionals have yet to issue an official response, but many are calling for a more informed and balanced conversation around healthcare ethics and pharmaceutical practices.
