The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) asks for calm from students and stakeholders after its official results checker portal, waecdirect.org, experienced a temporary shutdown.
The council announced that the outage is due to technical issues and is working to restore access within the next 24 hours.
The disruption comes just days after the release of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results on Monday, August 4. While results were initially available via the online portal and SMS platforms, the website’s technical failure has left many candidates unable to view their scores.

In a public statement shared on its official X handle, WAEC assured all affected individuals that it is working “assiduously” to resolve the problem.
The council also cautioned candidates against using unofficial websites or engaging with individuals who claim to offer alternative access to the results, directing them instead to rely on official updates from WAEC’s social media channels.
