‘D’Tigress’ Captain Expresses Gratitude for Cash Gifts, Honours

‎The ‘D’Tigress forward and Most Valuable Player at the recently concluded 2025 FIBA AfroBasket Championships in Cote d’Ivoire, Amy Okonkwo, has conveyed her appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, as well as the Government and People of Nigeria, for acknowledging the team’s recent accomplishments with generous rewards.

‎Following their historic fifth consecutive AfroBasket title on Sunday, the D’Tigress were presented with substantial cash prizes, national honours, and apartments by the Federal Government during a reception ceremony held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday.

‎”I would like to express, on behalf of the D’Tigress, our immense gratitude for the opportunity to represent our country and for the chance to continue excelling in our sport, which is a gift from God.

‎“It is incredibly meaningful for us to be hosted in this manner and to represent our nation by bringing home another championship. We hope to inspire young women around the globe to believe that they, too, can achieve what we have.
