The Abonnema community in Akuku Toru Local Government Area has been urged to take advantage of a newly introduced Health Insurance scheme to enhance their well-being.
The call was made by the Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Health, Mr. Vincent Nwachukwu, during the launch of the scheme in Abonnema.
The scheme, a collaborative effort between the Ministry, the Excellent Community Education Welfare Scheme, and Renaissance African Energy, aims to make healthcare more accessible and affordable for the community. The initiative emphasises maternal and child health, with a focus on reducing infant and maternal mortality rates.

Representatives of the collaborating organisations expressed their commitment to ensuring the success of the scheme. Over 2,000 community members are set to benefit from free enrollment, which will significantly reduce out-of-pocket expenses for healthcare services.
The scheme embodies the principles of hope, equity, and shared responsibility, ultimately contributing to the overall well-being of the community.
