The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Monday made an official announcement regarding the results of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for high school students.
In a statement released on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the council confirmed that the results are now accessible online for all who took the examination.
According to the council, candidates can check their performance by visiting the dedicated result portal at the website www.waecdirect.org
The council further added that for candidate to log in and view their scores, they must have their unique examination number and result-checking PIN.
WASSCE commenced the examination for school candidates from April 24th to June 20th.
Of the 1,973,365 students who registered for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) exam this year, 1,969,313 participated.
The test was administered across 23,554 approved secondary schools in Nigeria, as well as in a few schools in the Benin Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, and Equatorial Guinea that follow the Nigerian curriculum.
Amos Dangut, the Head of the WAEC National Office in Nigeria, highlighted a notable decrease in the number of candidates who passed with credits in key subjects in Lagos on Monday.
He said a total of 1,718,090 candidates, which is 87.24% of all test-takers, achieved credit or higher in a minimum of five subjects, with or without English Language and Mathematics.

However, Dangut noted that only 754,545 candidates (38.32%) earned credit or better in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
Dangut stated that this represents a significant decline of 33.8% compared to the previous year’s performance of 72.12%.
According to him, the data also showed a near-equal gender split among the test-takers, with 976,787 male candidates (49.60%) and 992,526 female candidates (50.40%).
The exam included 12,178 candidates with special needs, with the following breakdowns: 112 who are visually impaired, 615 with hearing difficulties, 52 with mental health conditions and 37 who are physically challenged.
He confirmed that they provided accommodations for these students and have also released their results.
He said the results for 1,517,517 candidates, or 77.06% of the total, have been fully processed and released.
According to him, the remaining 451,796 candidates (22.94%) are still pending due to various issues, noting that WAEC are working to release the outstanding results soon.
