EFCC Refutes Harassment Claim After Operation at Majesty Estate, Port Harcourt

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has debunked claims of harassment following operations by operatives of the Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate of the Commission that yielded the arrest of 37 suspected fraudsters.

In a statement by the commission, operatives responding to distress call by residents of Majesty Estate, NTA Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, concerning activities of internet fraudsters in their neighbourhood responded in a bid to ensure that illegality was not being perpetuated.

According to the statement, no unprofessional conduct occured during the course of the operation and no arrest was made in the particular apartment which was captured in a viral video that is being circulated.

The statement added that the EFCC is committed to upholding professional conduct in its operations and will take disciplinary measures against its operatives found to be overzealous in the discharge of their duties.
