Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles B are scheduled to play against the host team, Zanzibar, today in the second match of a two-game friendly series. This game is part of their preparation for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which starts this weekend.
In the first match, played on Monday at the Mau Stadium in central Zanzibar, the Super Eagles B didn’t win. The game ended in a 0-0 draw. Even though Nigeria had more control of the ball, Zanzibar’s defense held strong and stopped them from scoring.
Some standout players from the Nigerian team were Adedayo Olamilekan, Hadi Haruna, Sikiru Alimi, and Harrison Tochukwu. Goalkeeper Ozoemena Ani, captain Nduka Junior, and several other players also played in the match.

The match today at the same stadium will be Nigeria’s last practice before their CHAN 2024 opening game against the defending champions, Senegal, on Sunday, August 4, at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar. The stadium can hold up to 15,000 people.
After that, the Super Eagles B will face Sudan on Tuesday, August 12, and finish their Group D matches against Congo on August 19 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The 2024 African Nations Championship will include 19 teams from four countries.
Group D is the only group with four teams. Matches will also be held at venues in Nairobi, Kenya, and Kampala, Uganda.
