JUST IN: Super Falcons Land in Abuja to Heroic Welcome After Clinching 10th WAFCON Title

Nigeria’s victorious Super Falcons touched down in Abuja this afternoon. They returned home from Morocco, where they secured a historic tenth Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) championship.


The national team’s chartered flight arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at approximately 2:26 p.m., met by a jubilant reception.


Upon disembarking the aircraft, team captain Rasheedat Ajibade proudly hoisted the WAFCON trophy, signalling their triumph.


Awaiting their arrival was a throng of enthusiastic fans and high-ranking government officials, many of whom had patiently gathered at the airport for hours to greet their triumphant heroines.

Among the notable government dignitaries present to welcome the champions were the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris; the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Hanatu Musawa; and the Minister for Women’s Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim.


The atmosphere was one of palpable excitement and national pride as the country embraced its celebrated athletes.
