World hepatitis day is observed every 28th July to raise awareness about viral Hepatitis and encourage actions to eliminate it as a public health threat in the future.
Hepatitis is an inflammatory disease that causes abnormal enlargement of the liver, which could be cured or incurable.
A medical practitioner, Dr. Sabinus Chukwudi, who explained that hepatitis is categorized into viral and non-viral types, highlighted the factors that could hinder the elimination of the disease.
In the same vein, a community health worker, Mr Daniel Wakama, emphasized on quality health care services to be provided for everyone, including the health care service providers and precautionary measures, as some hepatitis cases are transferable.

On her part, a Nurse, Ms Siki Sunday, while narrating her experience with a patient, appealed for more support and care for people living with hepatitis.
The theme of this year’s observance, Hepatitis, let’s break it down, is a reminder that collective action is needed to expand access, integrate care, and end hepatitis as a public health problem in 2030.
