Thomas Partey, the Ghanaian international midfielder and former Arsenal player, has been charged with multiple counts of rape and sexual assault.
British police confirmed on Friday that these charges, comprising five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, stem from complaints lodged by three women and relate to alleged incidents between 2021 and 2022.
The Metropolitan Police initiated their investigation into the footballer in February 2022, following the initial report.
Authorities clarified that the five rape charges involve two of the complainants, while the sexual assault charge pertains to a third individual.
Partey’s lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, issued a statement asserting her client’s denial of all accusations.

Wiltshire added that the ex-Atletico Madrid and Mallorca player has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation.
In the statement, Wiltshire conveyed Partey’s desire to clear his name, noting that given that there are now ongoing legal proceedings, the player is unable to comment further.
Partey is scheduled to appear before a court in central London on August 5.
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, who is leading the inquiry, emphasised the police’s primary objective: providing assistance to the women who have come forward.
He also called for anyone impacted by the case or possessing information relevant to the investigation to contact law enforcement.
