NCDMB Reaffirms Commitment to Boosting Local Content in Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Sector

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is dedicated to fulfilling the Federal Government’s directives on the Nigeria First Policy and other initiatives designed to boost local content in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

Engineer Felix Omatsola-Ogbe, the Executive Secretary of the NCDMB, made this commitment at the opening of the 2025 Nigeria Oil and Gas Energy Week in Abuja. The event’s theme is “Achieving Energy Sufficiency through Local Content Implementation.”

Engineer Omatsola-Ogbe highlighted that the government has issued Presidential Directives on Local Content, with the NCDMB developing guidelines for their execution. He emphasised the Nigeria First Policy, which aims to achieve economic independence by leveraging local capabilities.
The Board is also working on a Nigeria First Procurement Policy and the Back to Creek Programme, which focuses on vocational skills, ICT, and STEM education to drive economic growth and job creation.

During a panel session, Alhaji Abdulmalik Halilu, the Director of Corporate Services at NCDMB, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to actualising local content in the oil and gas sector. Another session, moderated by Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, focused on the Community Contractors Fund to deepen community participation through accessible financing. Wemimo Oyelana, Portfolio Director – Africa and Country Manager – Nigeria, DMG events, urged all stakeholders to take action to achieve energy security through local content implementation.
