The Zonal Head of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, South South Zone, Mr. Lucky Obarein, has expressed gratitude to the dental department of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, UPTH, for the free dental outreach on the management and staff of the corporation.

Mr Obarein made this known in an interview during the programme at Radio Nigeria Treasure FM premises. “I want to sincerely appreciate everyone of you for counting us worthy to be part of the process of reaching out to the community.

When the Deputy Director of News came up with the idea for us to revive this event, we welcomed it, and the management gave full support to it. I am happy it has come and it is a success, and we appreciate the management of UPTH as well for releasing you to come and do this assignment”, he stated.

Mr Obarein, who appreciated the management of UPTH for choosing his corporation for the outreach, underscored the importance of partnership with the UPTH dental unit in reaching various communities and institutions in its bid to carry out the corporate social responsibility.

“I told the Deputy Director of News am looking forward to a situation where we can widen the scope of the reach to make it public in future when people around would come to benefit from your expertise and professionalism”, he noted.

On his part, the head of the team, Dr. Efetobo Orikpete who commended the corporation for the reception, said being proactive is one of the means to tackle all forms of dental diseases.

“The ideal thing to do is not to tackle problems before they arrive, is the preventive approach. That is not the case with what we see; in most cases in Nigeria, we adopt the curative approach. Only when there is a problem and the problem has gotten out of hand before we take action. So it is very commendable the management talk about a programme like this from the preventive aspect”, he explained.

He lauded his team for the initiative in carrying out the corporate social responsibility of the UPTH dental department.
