Super Eagles’ Player Condemns Benue Killings

Super Eagles player Ahmed Musa has condemned the recent killings in Benue State, urging authorities to take consistent and decisive action to end the violence and restore peace in the region. Earlier on The Port City News reported that no fewer than two hundred people were killed during an attack on the Yelwata community on Friday.

On Monday, while commissioning the Greater Abuja Water Supply Network, President Bola Tinubu expressed sympathy for the people of Benue and promised to clear his schedule to pay a condolence visit to the state on Wednesday. However, in a statement posted on his social media pages, the Kano Pillars forward questioned how many more lives must be lost before the government takes real action.

The 32-year-old added that the country cannot continue to condemn violence without following up with meaningful intervention. He said: “Another wave of heartbreaking killings in Benue. Don’t wait until it happens close to home or to someone you know— speak out now. To our leaders: governance is not just for election season.

“We need consistent action, not seasonal appearances. We demand more. We deserve better. Benue deserves peace. Nigeria deserves better. Sincere condolences to those who lost their lives in the process and to their families, may Allah grant you the fortitude to bear the loss.”
