The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders to zone the party’s 2027 presidential ticket to the southern region.
Speaking after a Monday meeting of ‘Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP’, the former Rivers State governor stated that zoning aligns with principles of fairness, inclusion, federal character, and respect for the party constitution.

Wike also affirmed Senator Sam Anyanwu as the PDP’s sole recognised National Secretary, asserting that only Anyanwu is constitutionally empowered to issue notices for National Convention, National Executive Committee, National Caucus, and National Working Committee meetings.
Consequently, Wike declared all notices not issued by Anyanwu, and any actions or correspondences to INEC based on them, as null, void, and without effect.
The stakeholders resolved that ‘to finally arrest the inexorable drift towards extinction in our party, the party must, without further delay, respect the judgment of the Supreme Court. We, therefore, unequivocally reaffirm Senator Sam Anyanwu as the duly elected and substantive National Secretary of our great party.’
