The Premier League has confirmed that the 2025/26 season will start on Saturday, 16 August, following its Annual General Meeting held on 4 June.The League announced that all 20 participating clubs, including newly promoted sides Leeds United, Burnley, and Sunderland, have been formally registered for the season.
As part of the final legal process confirming their promotion, the clubs received their share certificates and were added to the Premier League’s share register. Each was presented with a framed certificate recognising their return to the top flight. Meanwhile, relegated teams Leicester City, Ipswich Town, and Southampton have returned their Premier League shares, formally ending their membership.

The full fixture list for all 380 matches will be released at 09:00 BST on 18 June 2025 via Premier League’s website and the League’s official app.The opening weekend will feature the return of Burnley, Leeds United, and Sunderland to top-flight football for the first time since the 2023/24, 2022/23, and 2016/17 seasons respectively, following their promotion from the Championship.
Most clubs are expected to begin pre-season training on 1 July, marking the start of on-pitch preparations. However, clubs participating in the FIFA Club World Cup may begin training later depending on their international commitments. In addition, the Premier League Summer Series—a pre-season tournament hosted in the United States, will commence on 26 July.
AFC Bournemouth, Everton, Manchester United, and West Ham United are clubs that will participate. They will play the matches in cities such as New Jersey, Chicago, and Atlanta, with the series ending on 3 August.
