You are next – Felix Agu urges his Werder Bremen brother to snub Germany for Super Eagles

Felix Agu

Felix Agu has urged his Werder Bremen teammate Justin Njinmah to take his example and represent Nigeria internationally, following Agu’s debut for the Super Eagles at the Unity Cup in London. The 25-year-old Agu, played in a friendly against Jamaica, which was his first game for Nigeria after changing his allegiance from Germany.

Agu was born in Germany to Nigerian parents and had previously played two friendlies for Germany’s U21 team in 2019, but he has now dedicated his international career to Nigeria, the land of his heritage. After his debut with the Super Eagles, Agu shared a photo on Instagram captioned: “Proud”. The post quickly gained attention from fans and teammates, including Njinmah, who commented: “My brothaaa” along with a white heart emoji.

Agu replied with a clear message: “u next!!”Agu’s reply has been seen as a nudge for Njinmah to choose Nigeria over Germany. The two have developed a strong friendship at Werder Bremen, and both share Nigerian heritage, making the idea of playing together for the Super Eagles more likely

Although the 24-year-old Njinmah has not yet played for either Germany or Nigeria at any level, his performances in the Bundesliga this season have caught the eye. Since both players qualify for Nigeria through their parents, Agu’s public support might sway Njinmah’s decision regarding international play.

As Nigeria continues to draw dual-nationality players from Europe, Agu’s debut and his encouragement to Njinmah underscore the increasing allure of the green jersey boys for those with Nigerian roots.
