NDDC Donates Waste Bins to RSU for World Environment Day

To mark this year’s World Environment Day, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has donated seven waste segregation bins to Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, the Director of Environmental Protection and Control at NDDC, Engr. Obeka Onuoha, praised the university for its dedication to environmental sustainability through its green campus initiative.

He expressed confidence that the newly donated bins would strengthen the school’s waste management framework.

A. Henry Onu, Director of Works, who received the items on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, extended the university’s appreciation to the NDDC for its continued engagement. He assured that the equipment would be effectively used to improve hygiene and environmental standards on campus.

Earlier, the NDDC held a roadshow to promote the 2024 World Environment Day theme, “End Plastic Pollution,” reinforcing its commitment to sustainability in the Niger Delta.

The event aimed to encourage responsible waste disposal and highlight the importance of reducing plastic use across the Niger Delta.
