Real Madrid Announce Signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold

Spanish professional football club Real Madrid announced on Friday that it has completed the signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool Football Club (LFC). In an official statement posted via its social media platforms, the La Liga club confirmed that the England international signed a contract set to run until June 2031.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid agreed to pay a transfer fee of approximately €10 million to Liverpool for the right-back to feature in the upcoming Club World Cup in June. Romano also reported that Real Madrid will cover Alexander-Arnold’s wages for June and July as part of the deal struck with Liverpool.

“Understand the release clause into Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract will be €1B,” he wrote. Alexander-Arnold is expected to make his debut for Real Madrid against Al Hilal in Miami, Florida on June 18 at the Club World Cup.

Aged 26, Alexander-Arnold joins the Spanish side after winning nine major trophies with Liverpool.

Having spent his entire professional career at Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold became a full England international in 2018. He represented the Three Lions at two FIFA World Cups (2018 and 2022) and one UEFA European Championship (2020).

His individual accolades include selection to the FIFA FIFPro World 11 in 2020, two appearances in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season (2018/19 and 2021/22), and three inclusions in the Premier League Team of the Season (2018/19, 2019/20, and 2021/22). He was also named the Premier League Young Player of the Season for 2019/20.

Alexander-Arnold departed Anfield after making 354 appearances and scoring 23 goals for the club.

Confirming their acceptance of the offer, Liverpool expressed gratitude to the player, who joined the club’s Academy at the age of six and progressed through its youth system to make his senior debut in October 2016.

Alexander-Arnold will join his England teammate and friend Jude Bellingham at the Santiago Bernabéu.
