Children Urge Government to Strengthen Child Rights Act

Government has been called to strengthen the Child Rights Act to protect young people from harm and to provide the basic need for the wellbeing of children.

This was the opinion of the children in commemoration of world’s children’s day. Daniel Kindness described the Child Act as a law enacted to protect children and their rights.

He stated, “a child is someone who is still young and tender and who still needs support, care and love from parents, Childs right act is defined as the Nigeria constitution that tends to protect a child from abuse or dangers the laws was enacted in 2003 aimed to protect the right of children”.

The children explained the abuses young people pass through on a daily basis and urged the society to stand up against all forms of molestation meted out to the underaged.

One of the children, Daniel Kindness, who described her ugly experience in the hands of kidnappers, called on the relevant authority to come up with a framework to secure and protect minors.

They urged parents and caregivers not to shy away from their responsibilities but give special care and attention to their children and foster safe spaces for open communication.
