Police Neutralise Four Suspects Over HMG Attitude Ltd CEO’s Murder, Seize Arms

Rivers State Police Command announced that four suspects in connection with the death of the Chief Executive Officer of HMG Attitude Ltd, Hope Georgewill, have been neutralised despite the sum of N2 million being made. Recall that on 26 March, Georgewill, along with two others, was abducted along Cotton Channel, Bakana River, by a gang of notorious sea pirates.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, in a statement on Tuesday, noted that the gang was led by Preye Ngian-Ngian, a male native of Degema Local Government Area of the state. After payment was made, the body of the late Georgewill was recovered and deposited in the mortuary.

The statement read partly, “Following relentless investigative efforts and intelligence-led policing, on April 3, 2025, at about 07:30 hrs, operatives of the Anti-Cultism Unit (ACU), Emohua, in collaboration with intelligence gathered from two earlier arrested suspects in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, launched a tactical operation on the kidnappers’ hideout located in a creek off the Bonny Waterway.

After an intense gunfight between the security force and the kidnappers, upon arrival at the hideout, two suspects were fatally wounded, while others fled the scene with varying degrees of injuries. Iringe-Koko disclosed that two suspects, who led the security force to the kidnapper’s hideout, in an attempt to flee from the security operatives, sustained gunshot injuries.

All four who sustained injuries were confirmed dead upon arrival at the Police Clinic for emergency treatment, and their remains have since been deposited for autopsy. Items recovered include one operational speedboat, one 80-horsepower and one 70-horsepower outboard engine, respectively, the deceased’s mobile phone (SIM card removed), one live cartridge, and food supplies used by the kidnappers.

While reiterating the commitment of the command in safeguarding all residents and visitors, the Commissioner of Police (CP) Olugbenga Adepoju hailed the officers for their successful effort, describing it as a significant breakthrough in frustrating the activities of evildoers.

“Further investigations are ongoing, and the public will be updated with any new developments,” she added.
