Burna Boy gifts Portable 20M For Defeating Speed Darlington

Portable vs Speed Darlington

Fresh off his celebrity boxing victory, street-hop sensation Portable is N20 million richer, thanks to a generous gift from Grammy-winning superstar Burna Boy. But while Portable celebrates, his opponent Speed Darlington is crying foul and tribalism.

The bout, dubbed “Chaos in the Ring,” took place on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos. Portable was declared the winner after Speed Darlington failed to return for the second round, claiming a broken arm from an intense first-round exchange.

Burna Boy, who has a well-documented rivalry with Speed Darlington, showed support for Portable by gifting him N20 million after the win. Portable took to Instagram to share the news: “20 million from @burnaboygram. If you wanna be like Odogwu, can you do like Odogwu? God bless your family.”

While fans celebrated the win and the cash splash, Speed Darlington launched into a heated rant on Instagram Live, accusing organizers and judges of tribal bias.
“Yoruba judges, Yoruba is everything. Of course Yoruba gang will win,” he said.
“Don’t pretend tribalism is not in Nigeria. Everybody inside the ring is Yoruba, the stage we fought on is Yoruba. Of course, he will be awarded the win.”

His comments sparked heated reactions online, with some supporting his concerns over bias, while others dismissed it as an excuse for poor performance.

Regardless of the controversy, Portable’s stock continues to rise both in popularity and in his bank account while Speed Darlington is left nursing his wounds and, perhaps, his pride.
