FRSC Guarantees Secure Easter with 1,000 Personnel

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Rivers State command has deployed over 1,000 personnel and 16 patrol vans to ensure a safe Easter holiday for residents in the state.

In a statement signed by the Rivers state Sector commander, Corps Commander Inyang Umoh, said the operation, which began on Wednesday, April 16, and will continue through April 23, involves traffic control at key areas on Rivers State Highways.

The FRSC also established a Situation Room at its State Headquarters to monitor activities in real time, gather and disseminate information to field Commands and stakeholders to facilitate prompt response and coordination.

The command said it will focus on enforcing traffic laws, including overspeeding, dangerous driving, improper overtaking, lane indiscipline, road obstructions, phone use while driving, overloading, and violations of seatbelt and child restraint laws.

Other offences include lack of a passenger manifest, operation of mechanically unfit vehicles, and non-compliance with safety regulations concerning vehicle latching and twist-locking systems.

The Federal Road Safety Corps has partnered with several agencies, including the military, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services DSS, the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, state traffic management agencies, non-governmental organizations, ambulance service providers, the National Network on Emergency Rescue Services NNES, the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, and the Federal Fire Service.
