A former member of the House of Representatives, Chief Ogbonna Nwuke, has alleged that the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas, is gradually handing over the state to the
Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike, through the back door.
Chief Nwuke, who emphasized that the duty of the Sole Administrator is to ensure peace and reconciliation in the state, wondered why his appointees for the administration of local government councils in the state should only be loyalists of the FCT Minister.

The former Federal Lawmaker, while faulting the decision of the Sole administrator to draw up another budget for 2025, explained that under the present circumstance in Rivers state, only the National Assembly has the right to legislate over such an issue.
Chief Nwuke commended the National Assembly for reminding the Sole Administrator, retired Vice Admiral Ibas, of his responsibilities and limitations.
Chief Nwuke advised the Sole Administrator to keep to his assigned responsibility of maintaining peace and avoid actions that could further polarise the state.
