The political crisis in Rivers State took a distressing turn as Florence Nwaeke, wife of former Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, made an emotional plea for help, expressing grave concern over her husband’s safety following his sudden disappearance.
Mrs. Nwaeke, visibly shaken, recounted the last conversation she had with her husband, who had informed her of his safe arrival in Abuja. However, what initially seemed like a routine trip took an alarming twist when reports surfaced that he had participated in a televised interview.
“When he got to Abuja, he called to say he had landed. I was relieved and thanked God.
I was confused. I asked, ‘What interview? Interview for what?’ Then I saw the clips circulating online. I couldn’t believe it. I said, ‘That is not my husband,’” she said.
Her distress deepened when she tried contacting him but received no response. “I sent him messages asking, ‘Are you under duress? Have they kidnapped you? Talk to me now.’ But he didn’t reply. Now, his numbers are no longer reachable,” she said in a tearful plea.

Mrs. Nwaeke, overwhelmed with fear, called on Nigerians for help. “Oh Jesus, help me. Nigerians, please help me. My husband is in danger. I don’t know where he is or what is happening to him.”
Her concerns have heightened political tensions in Rivers State, especially in light of the allegations made by Dr. Nwaeke in his controversial interview.
He had accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of engaging in secret political dealings and inciting militant activities, including alleged support for Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed’s 2027 presidential bid and purported discussions to orchestrate attacks on vital oil infrastructure.
Following his allegations, Mrs. Nwaeke took to social media to appeal directly to Governor Fubara. “Governor, help me. My husband is in trouble,” she pleaded, insisting that he had been forced to resign under duress and was now being coerced into making false confessions.
In response, Governor Fubara dismissed the accusations as baseless and politically motivated.
“The truth is that Dr Nwaeke has been compromised, and whatever he is saying is only aimed at fulfilling his promise to those who may have paid or coerced him to lie against me,” Fubara stated in an official release.
The conflicting narratives surrounding Dr. Nwaeke’s allegations, his wife’s SOS, and the governor’s rebuttal add another layer of uncertainty to the already tense political atmosphere in Rivers State.
As events unfold, many are left wondering about the fate of Dr. Nwaeke and the broader implications of this power struggle.
