Trans-Pipeline Explosion: Remain Vigilant, Ogoni Youth Leader Tells Youths

The President General of the Ogoni Youth Federation, Legborsi Yamaabana, has charged the youths of the community to remain watchful against evildoers who want to destroy the image of the community.

This was contained in a statement signed by Hycienth Ana, the SSA Media and Publicity, on Tuesday, following the Trans-Niger pipeline explosion that occurred in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers State.

Recall that the explosion occurred in Bodo community in the late hours of Monday night, leaving the residents in shock.

The Trans-Niger pipeline is said to be a federal government pipeline that transports oil to the Bonny Export Terminal in the state.

Yamaabana, who is also a spokesperson for the Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Forum, in the shared release, vehemently condemned the alleged attack and also hailed the security operatives for their efforts, leading to the alleged arrest of two suspects.

Although, the state Police Command disclosed that two persons who were linked to the explosion that occured at the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) pipeline has been called for questioning.

The statement read, “The President General of the Ogoni Youth Federation and Spokesman, Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Forum, Engr. (Dr.) Legborsi Yamaabana, strongly condemns the attack on the Trans-Niger pipeline in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area.

“Engr. Yamaabana, who is also the Chairman of the Rivers State Ethnic Youth Leaders Coalition, also applauded the swift response of security operatives in apprehending two suspected masterminds of the attack.

“In his response to calls from various media houses in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, the youth leader called on Ogoni youths to remain vigilant against external forces who may want to commit crimes to tarnish the image of the youths and the area.”
