Rivers Assembly Accuses Governor Fubara, Deputy of Gross Misconduct

The River State House of Assembly has issued a notice of allegation of Gross misconduct against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy, Prof . Ngozi Odu.

A statement by the Special Assistant on Media to the Speaker, Martins Wachukwu, indicates that the Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, at the plenary, announced that he received the notice signed by 26 members on five grounds of gross misconduct against the Governor and three grounds of Gross misconduct against the deputy with accompanying particulars.

According to the statement, the Speaker received the notice last Friday and has forwarded it to the holders of the office.

However, it states that to be sure that the Governor and his deputy become aware of the notice, and in the event that the letters were not received, the House resolved through a motion, to publish the notice in at least three national dailies.

In another development, the House through a Motion move by Dumle Maol requested the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, for spending humongous sums of money not backed by an Appropriation Law.

Furthermore, the House amended its Standing Orders, making room for the Law Markers to sit at any time and day within the week if it becomes absolutely necessary in the interest of the State, and in the event of emergency, provided the House is properly convened by the Speaker.
