VDM Responds to Arrest Warrant Issued by Court Over Alleged Defamation

Reacting to the arrest warrant issued by an Abuja Magistrate Court, popular social media activist Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has okayed the order, urging security forces to proceed with his arrest immediately upon his return to Nigeria.

It was earlier reported by TCPN that on Wednesday, an Abuja court issued an arrest warrant, directing the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to ensure VDM appears at the next hearing for an alleged defamation case.

Gospel singer Mercy Chinwo filed a N1.1 billion lawsuit against VDM over alleged defamation.

VDM made this declaration via his Instagram Story, speaking in Pidgin English, “I dey come Naija very soon, make una ready to arrest me for airport. Arrest no be new thing for the Ratel na.”

VDM, known for creating content that sparks public reactions, has been detained multiple times for his controversial criticisms.

In one of his recent social media videos, he appeared to be in China on a visit.

Legal experts have stated that defamation cases can lead to serious consequences, including fines and imprisonment.

As of the time of this report, gospel singer Chinwo has yet to respond to the ongoing controversy.

With the case continuing to generate widespread reactions, Nigerians eagerly await the outcome of the legal battle between the social media activist and the gospel singer.
