Police Declare Portable Wanted For Alleged Assault

Habeeb Olalomi, popularly known as Portable, has been declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command following an alleged assault on government officials who were carrying out their lawful duties.

A statement shared on Tuesday via the security force’s official X page noted that despite multiple invitations, the ZaZoo Zehh singer has refused to honor the summons.

His refusal to honour the invitation has led to issuance of arrest warrant obtained from the Magistrate Court in Ogun State.

The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, recounted the incident involving three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office, and Portable.

“Multiple formal invitations were sent to him, requesting his presence at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, which deliberately ignored without cause or legal representation, Odutola stated.

According to Odutola, at about 10:00 AM on February 5, during an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, three town planners—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—met an elderly man, identified as Portable’s father, at Odogwu Bar within the vicinity.

After identifying themselves and requesting an approved building plan, Portable’s father informed them that his son was unavailable.

Shortly after, Portable arrived with a group of nine individuals, one of whom was armed with a firearm, and allegedly launched an attack on the three unarmed government officials.

Due to the assault, the injured officials reported the incident to the Ota Area Command after narrowly escaping the scene.

Odutola confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

Meanwhile, nine suspects have been apprehended for their alleged involvement, while Portable location remains unknown after fleeing the scene.

The public has been urged to provide any information that could lead to his immediate arrest. Odutola also warned that anyone found aiding his evasion would face legal consequences.

“For any relevant information, kindly report to the nearest police station or contact the Ogun State Police Command through its official communication channels or the police public relations department,” Odutola stated.

Nine Associates Face Trial

It was earlier reported that before the Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, Portable’s nine accomplices were arraigned two weeks ago on multiple charges, including felony, assault, unlawful restriction, possession of weapons, and breach of public peace.

The defendants, who pleaded not guilty, are: Nurudeen Warris, 21, Adetola Alashe, 25, Samuel Adeleke, 28, Oluwaseun Ayenuwa, 19, Oluwapelumi Adeosun, 20, Gospel Kanu, 20, Precious Ohiegebo, 19, Ifeoluwa Babatunde, 27 and Fatimo Muhammed, 26.

Although they were granted bail set at ₦5 million each, with sureties of equal value, the sureties must be licensed bondsmen registered with the state government.

The next hearing has been scheduled for March 17.
