Rivers State Tourism Director Advocates for Enhanced Crisis Management on Global Tourism Resilience Day

As the globe commemorates Global Tourism Resilience Day today, stakeholders have called for more enlightenment on the importance of tourism and crisis management in the tourism industry.

In an interview with our correspondent, the Director of Tourism in the Rivers State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mr Kenule Kobo, explained tourism as a ‘home away from home’, and the need for people to key into policy frameworks to promote and boost tourism in the State.

Mr. Kobo noted that tourism has psychological benefits for residents.

The Director of Tourism in the Rivers State Ministry of Culture and Tourism stressed that tourism can also creates a deep way for internally generated revenue to boost the economy and being about development in the state.

Global Tourism Resilience Day is an opportunity for the tourism industry, governments, and international organizations to come together and promote sustainable tourism practices, support communities affected by crises, and develop strategies for resilient tourism development.

The theme of this year’s observance is ‘Fostering Resilience and Sustainability in Tourism’
